How to run a golf tournament with Cartners
Start with the course and your players, then use Cartners to keep the event’s working details together. This guide follows the decisions an organizer needs to make before, during and after play.
1. Agree the event and course arrangements
Confirm the course and tee times directly with the course. Decide the dates, number of rounds, player limit and registration approach. Tell golfers about costs, payment arrangements and cancellation terms before inviting them.
In Cartners, create the tournament under your own account or an organization you can manage. Add the event details and review the supported settings. New tournaments currently use individual gross stroke play; choosing dates does not reserve course inventory.
2. Invite golfers and review registration
Use the event’s invitation and registration tools to build the field. Review approvals, pending players, withdrawals and any waitlist. Check the actual player status rather than treating every invitation as an accepted place.
Make sure the people helping run the event have the appropriate access. See the tournament registration guide for the player workflow and reminder limits.
3. Prepare each round, group and scorecard
Check round dates and course details, arrange playing groups and review planned tee times. Assign the scorer for each saved group. If you use teams or flights, resolve those assignments while the field is still editable.
Prepare tee sheets and scorecards using the event’s export tools. Give players clear meeting and scoring instructions, and retain a paper backup for unreliable connections. The pairings and team guide explains the different assignments.
4. Check access and score the day
Before play, check the event status and any last-minute field changes. Players should open the correct round and scorecard. Give guest scorers their assigned codes and explain how to check that an entry saved.
Review scoring questions with the responsible scorer. A reminder or notification request does not prove every player received it, so use an agreed contact method for urgent changes. Read the browser scoring guide before the first tee.
5. Review results and close the event
Resolve incomplete or disputed scores before finalizing results. Use the completion and result controls available for the tournament’s status and your role. Keep event records for the next organizer and review what you would change next time.
For continuing competition, link your planning to a golf league. For your wider membership and event schedule, use a club organization.
